Eight Eligible Teams Staying Home

Eight bowl eligible teams – five from the Mid-American Conference – are through for the season.

The five from the MAC who didn’t receive bowl invitations are:  Bowling Green, which beat the University of Memphis in last year’s GMAC Bowl in Mobile; Miami of Ohio, Northern Illinois, Western Michigan and Central Michigan. 

The other three uninvited teams are Louisiana Tech from the Western Athletic Conference; Louisiana Lafayette from the Sun Belt Conference, and New Mexico from the Mountain West Conference. 

Last year, every bowl eligible team except South Carolina and Clemson went to bowls.  They didn’t go after banning themselves from post-season play because of a brawl that took place in their season ending game.
